Cosmetic surgery procedures

Unlike plastic and reconstructive surgery, cosmetic surgery is aimed at enhancing or rejuvenating the face, breasts or body for aesthetic reasons. It is elective, in that it is usually not medically necessary, so it is important that you are choosing the right surgeon and right procedure and that surgery will fulfil your expectations. During your consultation with Mr Juling Ong, he will listen carefully to what you are hoping to achieve and give you expert, unbiased advice on whether surgery is the right choice for you at this stage.
Facial rejuvenation surgery encompasses facelifts, neck lifts, eyelid lifts and brow lifts, and the aim is to restore a more youthful, refreshed look by targeting many of the ageing changes we start to see as the facial tissues start to sag and our skin loses elasticity.
A brow lift produces a more rejuvenated appearance to the forehead, by correcting drooping brows and forehead lines that can make the patient appear tired or angry. Facial ageing doesn’t occur in isolation though, so Mr Ong can combine a brow lift with mid-facelift or eyelid surgery.
The eyes are often one of the first places to reveal signs of ageing, as the skin starts to sag on the upper eyelids, causing wrinkling, loss of definition around the eye and a hooded appearance. Underneath the eye, eye bags can appear as the fatty tissue bulges out. An eyelid lift or blepharoplasty can be performed on either the upper or lower lids or both.
As we age, the skin and underlying tissues of the face start to sag and we lose volume in the mid-face, causing the brows to droop and loss of definition along the jawline and neck. Deep lines can appear between the nose and mouth, known as the nasolabial folds. Smoking, sun damage and stress can all accelerate the process. A facelift can be a fantastic rejuvenating procedure, reversing many of these signs of ageing.
A facelift is often combined with other cosmetic facial surgery procedures such as a brow lift or blepharoplasty to produce the optimal results. Mr Ong can also combine a facelift and neck lift with non-surgical aesthetic treatments such as Anti-Wrinkle Injections and Dermal Fillers to produce the optimal outcome.
Cosmetic breast surgery is very popular in the UK, as it’s possible to reshape or resize the breasts into a more aesthetically pleasing appearance. Mr Juling Ong performs breast augmentation surgery with breast implants, which is the most requested cosmetic surgery procedure in the UK, popular with young women who have always been dissatisfied with the size of their breasts and also older women who have seen a loss of volume, due to ageing, pregnancy or weight fluctuations.
Breast reduction surgery is indicated for patients who have overly-large breasts that are affecting their confidence or causing physical issues. A breast uplift or mastopexy is a cosmetic breast procedure to address sagging of the skin and breast tissues and produce a more youthful shape and position of the breasts.
Mr Juling Ong also offers cosmetic surgery for the body, such as the abdominoplasty or tummy tuck. Often, due to weight gain or pregnancy, there is a loss of tone to the abdominal muscles and a stretching of the skin, which can’t be addressed with diet and exercise alone. A tummy tuck tightens the muscles and removes any excess skin to produce a more taut and smoother appearance to the abdomen. Arm reductions and thigh lifts are other body contouring procedures that can produce an improved shape to the body.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens during my cosmetic surgery consultation?
During your cosmetic surgery consultation with Mr Juling Ong, he will assess you and discuss with you in depth your goals and expectations of surgery. A complete medical assessment will also take place where you will discuss any underlying medical conditions such as high blood pressure, or whether you’ve experienced keloid scarring in the past.
Mr Juling Ong can then offer you unbiased, expert advice on which cosmetic surgery procedure – or combination of procedures – is most likely to fulfil your expectations from surgery. He will discuss in full all potential risks and complications and also the option of not undergoing surgery at this point, so you can make an informed decision on whether to go ahead.
He will also explain how best to prepare for surgery, including ceasing smoking in advance of your procedure and for a period post-surgery. This is important as smoking can have a profound impact on the healing process and affect your results.
What are the risks of cosmetic surgery?
Cosmetic surgery, whether it is a facelift, tummy tuck or breast augmentation, is usually very straightforward and safe, but any surgical procedure entails some risks and it is important you are fully informed beforehand. Your procedure will usually be performed under a general anaesthetic and there are potential complications associated with anaesthetic.
Any cosmetic surgery procedure will result in swelling and bruising, but this will be temporary. After surgery, there is the risk of infection, increased bleeding or an accumulation of fluid, so seek advice from our team if you’re worried about any post-surgery issues. Any discomfort is usually easily controlled with over-the-counter pain medication.
After cosmetic surgery, there may be some loss of sensation due to nerve damage, but this should resolve itself over a period of time. In a brow lift or facelift, there may be some hair loss at the scar site. Asymmetry is another potential risk of cosmetic facial or breast surgery.
During your consultation, Mr Juling Ong will explain all potential risks and discuss your treatment options in full. Please call us on 020 7927 6528 or email us at info@julingong.com to arrange an appointment.
